I grew up in the Ohio heartland on the family dairy farm, where it was a necessity to learn how things worked and more importantly, how to fix them. I think it is just in my DNA. After leaving the farm, I worked in residential construction where I learned how to build homes from the foundations to the roof. In the early 1990’s I joined the Navy, taking my work ethic, acquired skills and drive to become an advanced avionics technician gaining valuable experience in a whole new dimension of problem solving and fixing things. Upon returning to civilian life, I utilized my new skills installing and troubleshooting business telephone and computer networks. I found just couldn’t seem to shake my love for all things home improvement and found myself gravitating back to it every chance I could. Buying, improving, and selling homes, remodeling for friends and acquaintances. By the end 2001 I left the technology industry completely and began working in home maintenance/improvement full time. After two years, I found myself spending most of my time maintaining, improving, and managing all aspects of a massive 38-acre ocean front estate with multiple houses. I had the choice of expanding ParkerHouse by hiring or cutting back on clients and concentrating on one. Ultimately, they asked me to work there exclusively, recognizing me as someone who could solve so many of their pain points of owning such a special property while living “away”. I agreed and have never looked back. That is until my son, Matt, much to my surprise, started walking in my footsteps. By the time he graduated high school he already had two years under his belt building a local lawn care business wholly independent of his mom and me. When I say a lawn care business, I don’t mean a kid with a push mower he took from my garage….no, this kid bought had a truck, trailer and a zero-turn mower by the end of his first season. Before long we were hearing from his clients we bump into around town how utterly impressed they were with his work ethic, attention to detail and communication skills. When he expressed interest in working for me it was an easy decision to let him become partial owner and expand his efforts in Camden. Thus, ParkerHouse was reborn with Matt at the helm of operations for what I dub the “The Camden Division”
Hello all my name is Matt Parker. I have lived in Camden since 2014 and from a young age I have always found a love for equipment and a drive towards the outdoors. Growing up I worked for my father on a 38 acre estate learning many of the aspects of property care from outdoor maintenance to interior repairs as I grew older my responsibilities grew more. Eventually I found my way back to landscaping in 2019 starting out doing lawn care with a push mower on Timbercliffe drive in Camden as a part time gig for some extra money. As I neared the end of high school my lawn care company had grown to a truck, trailer, a few mowers, and about 25 clients without even realizing it, my side hustle had turned into a full time job. As my parents and I began to discuss my plans for after school I knew full time higher education was not for me. I always strived for a job that didn't feel like work and landscaping gave me that. I loved every aspect, there was something so gratifying about starting with an idea and being able to create a finished product that was exactly what the customer wanted. After lots of discussion my father and I decided I would join his company and start expanding in the Midcoast area. With his knowledge of home maintenance and my knowledge of equipment and service we set off with a goal to provide a high quality property care service that was different from your average maintenance based company. We wanted our customer to know us well, be comfortable with our crews, and almost have a friend-like relationship to allow us to better understand our customers wants and needs to provide unmatched service.
